Critics’ Choice Awards 2018, le nomination

Sono state annunciate ieri le candidature per la 23^ edizione dei Critics’ Choice Awards, i riconoscimenti assegnati annualmente dalla Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) e dalla Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA), formata da importanti critici cinematografici e televisivi appartenenti alle principali testate giornalistiche statunitensi. Sarà, come di consueto, l’evento che darà il via alla prossima Awards Season.

Molti dei film candidati non sono ancora arrivati in Italia e non esordiranno nelle nostre sale prima dell’inizio del 2018, sperando poi, naturalmente, in una distribuzione all’altezza, anche se, da anni, tanti dei film d’autore che si rivelano poi protagonisti nella stagione dei premi vengono diffusi in poche copie nel nostro circuito.

Tra i titoli nominati, spiccano le 14 nomination per The Shape of Water di Guillermo Del Toro che, dopo la vittoria del Leone d’Oro a Venezia 74, sorprende per la considerazione che la critica gli ha riservato già in questa circostanza. A 8 nomination seguono Dunkirk, il capolavoro di Christopher Nolan, quindi Call Me By Your Name (Chiamami col tuo nome) di Luca Guadagnino, opera di co-produzione franco-italo-statunitense che ha registrato un inatteso successo nelle (per ora poche) sale americane nelle quali è uscito, The Post di Steven Spielberg e Lady Bird di Greta Gerwig. Seguono a quota 7 Blade Runner 2049 di Denis Villeneuve, a 6 The Big Sick di Michael Showalter e Three Billboards to Ebbing, Missouri di Martin McDonagh (presentato anch’esso a Venezia 74); a 5 I, Tonya di Craig Gillespie (presentato alla 12^ Festa del Cinema di Roma) e Get Out – Scappa di Jordan Peele (horror rivelazione di inizio 2017); a 4 tra gli altri Darkest Hour di Joe Wright e Phantom Thread (Il filo nascosto) di Paul Thomas Anderson. Da segnalare anche le 3 nomination per Wonder Woman.

Andiamo dunque ad elencare la lista completa delle candidature, comprese le categorie delle serie tv (dove le produzioni Netflix sono in evidenza), ma non prima di aver ricordato che la cerimonia di consegna dei Critics’ Choice Awards 2018 si terrà il prossimo 11 Gennaio al “The Barker Hangar” di Santa Monica.
