È ufficialmente partita la Awards Season 2020, dopo un’annata cinematografica e televisiva davvero eccellente e che adesso merita i giusti riconoscimenti. Ad aprire gli annunci delle nomination sono, come da tradizione, i Critics’ Choice Awards, assegnati dalla Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) e dalla corrispondente Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA), composte da importanti critici cinematografici appartenenti alle principali testate giornalistiche statunitensi. Concentrando la nostra attenzione verso il grande schermo, tra i candidati svetta The Irishman di Martin Scorsese che ottiene quattordici nomination, precedendo lo straordinario C’era una volta a… Hollywood di Quentin Tarantino, il quale ne conquista dodici.
A quota nove troviamo Piccole donne (Little Women) di Greta Gerwig, film tratto dal celebre romanzo di Louis May Alcott e che si impernia su un cast di prim’ordine. La pellicola arriverà il prossimo Gennaio nelle sale italiane. È invece disponibile da qualche giorno su Netflix Storia di un matrimonio (Marriage Story) di Noah Baumbach, che sta conquistando il pubblico internazionale così come il già citato The Irishman di Scorsese: entrambi sono i titoli di punta della casa statunitense, ormai una certezza nel panorama cinematografico e che, dopo i sacrosanti passaggi in sala dei propri film, ha sdoganato definitivamente lo streaming come mezzo di fruizione di opere di enorme rilievo.
Sono otto le candidature per il film con Scarlett Johansson e Adam Driver protagonisti, così come per 1917 di Sam Mendes, altro titolo in arrivo a inizio 2020 sugli schemi italiani e già riferimento dell’anno per il genere bellico, con ambientazioni drammatiche nelle trincee della Prima Guerra Mondiale.
A quota sette candidature troviamo Joker di Todd Phillips, Parasite di Bong Joon Ho e Jojo Rabbit di Taika Waititi, tutti film rivelazione della stagione, ciascuno con le proprie peculiarità. Da notare anche la candidatura per la sceneggiatura di Rian Johnson per Knives Out, altro film da poco arrivato nelle sale italiane.
Andiamo dunque al riepilogo delle nomination, ricordando che i Critics’ Choice Awards, giunti alla 25^ edizione, verranno consegnati il prossimo 12 Gennaio al The Barker Hangar di Santa Monica, California.
